Side (pronounced "C-day") is one of the more recently developed regions of the southern coast of Turkey (known as the Turkish Riviera) though there are many ancient places of historical interest nearby. Side city center is easily reached by bus. Local sight-seeing venues include the stunning city gates and walls, as well as the remains of the Roman viaducts, which were built to bring water from the spectacular Taurus mountains. The local Side museum includes a restored roman baths, as well as some of the arts and treasure found locally. Also worth a visit is the spectacular 15,000 roman theater, which is some 20 meters high and excellently preserved.
