Kemer lies in the south west region of Turkey directly on the mediterranean sea some 40 km away from Antalya International airport. With it's marina and unspoilt coastline, lined with pine trees, palm trees, as well as olive groves, Kemer was given the EU Blue Flag award and declared a wildlife conservation area.
Kemer is a small town with a population of 25,000, but is popular with tourists seeking a "sun and sand" holiday. However, there are local sites of historical interest, including Phaselis, which dates back to the 7th century BC. Here you can see the ruins of it's amphitheatre, Hadrian's Gate, viaducts, and it's harbour.
Also a must-see is the magnificent "burning mountain", Cirali, a natural phenomenon caused by the combustion of natural gas. The mountain climb is not for the faint-hearted, and is best made in the cool morning, but the wondrous experience will last you a lifetime.
