Guide to Tax Free Shopping in Turkey.

Tax free shopping in Turkey
If you or a tourist, business or incentive traveler, or a visitor to Turkey, we hope you can take advantage of the many opportunities for Tax Free shopping. The regions of Antalya Belek and Kemer offer a wide variety of shops and warehouses whre you can buy gold, silver, jewelry, leather goods and ornaments at competitive prices.
If you shop where you see the TAX FREE SHOPPING SIGN, you can claim back your tax when you leave Turkey.

How does it work?

Foreign visitors (and even Turkish people living abroad) can claim tax on goods purchased in Turkey when they leave.  At present sales tax (known in Turkey as KDV) is 18%. Shop in centers and stores where you see the Tax Free logo, buy your goods and ask for the tax refund cheque. You have to spend more than 100 YTL + sales tax to qualify for a tax rebate, but you should check that with Tourbox Antalya before you come.

First pay for your goods and received your refund cheque, present it when you leave Turkey at customes and excise for stamping. You have 90 days after purchase to claim your tax refund.
You wil need to present your cheque with your goods, receipts, as well as your passport.

You will be issued with a customs stamp and you can collect your money at a Cash Refund Office when you leave. Also you can mail your stamped cheques to the Golbal Refund Office of Turkey and have your money transferred to a bank or credit card account.

There are Cash Refund Offices in Turkey at:

  • Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Open daily 07:00 to 24:00
  • Ankara Airport. Open every day 24 hours.
  • Antalya Airport Open 24 hours daily.
  • Bodrum Milas Airport (Post Office) Open daily 24 hours.
