The FIA Rally of Turkey, 2005.

FIA Rally Championship Antalya region, June 2-5th.

June 2^nd sees the start of the 16 event FIA Rally 2005 in Turkey. The rally starts with a ceremonial stage from Antalya city center, and moves on Kemer on Friday. The rally takes place in the heart of the beautiful Antatolian mountains, and is demanding on both driver and car.

Some of the stages take place at 1500 meters above sea level, where the air temperature is somewhat cooler than the 35C seen in Antalya at this time of year. The warm and dry conditions and gravel tracks are expecially tough on tyres and Pirelli will be testing a new compound especially for this event. Road conditions on Turkey's southern mediterranean coast mean that drivers have to be more cautious and average speeds are slower giving tourists an excellent chance to get a good look at the cars and drivers.

The race is 1200 km in length and most of the 17 stages of the 2005 rally in Turkey take place 40 km south of Antalya. The base camp is in Kemer City Center, where you can see the cars being prepared for the competition.
